New Delhi– Dubbed the “greatest literary show on Earth”, the Jaipur Literature Festival (JLF) returns in a virtual avatar from February 19-28 featuring a spectacular line-up of speakers from across the world, consisting of writers, poets, playwrights, thinkers, politicians, journalists, cultural icons and recipients of major literary awards including the Man Booker, the Pulitzer, JCB Prize for Literature, Commonwealth, European Union Prize, the DSC Prize for South Asian Literature and the PEN Award for Poetry in Translation.
The programme is vast and kaleidoscopic, with themes ranging from Technology & AI, Politics & History, Environment & Climate Change, Mental Health, Economics, Translations, Poetry & Music, Food & Literature, Geopolitics, Science & Medicine, Democracy & Constitutions, Water & Sustainability, Historical Fiction and Travel et al.

Taipei, Jan. 12 (CNA) The Taipei International Book Exhibition (TIBE) will feature the winning entries from the European Union Prize for Literature and the 2020 Bologna Children s Book Fair Illustrators Exhibition, when it opens later this month, the organizers said Tuesday.
The winning artworks from the Italian children s book fair will be displayed live for the first time, since it was canceled last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, said Page Tsou (鄒駿昇), the designer of the illustrators booth at the Taipei exhibition.

In âThe Last Days of Ellis Island,â Gaëlle Josse imagines a different viewpoint. Rather than viewing the facility through the eyes of those seeking a new life, the French poet and author hands the spyglass instead to a fictional bureaucrat within its walls. The character she creates, Commissioner John Mitchell, is the facilityâs self-described âlast guardianâ and âlast prisoner,â writing an account of his career as he readies the federal property for its 1954 shutdown after a 45-year career.

The German Presidency of the Council and the European Parliament struck a provisional deal on the Creative Europe programme for 2021-2027. The programme supports European and international co-productions, distribution and sales of audio-visual works in Europe and beyond, development of video games, production of innovative TV content, and translation and promotion of literary works across the EU. Creative Europe also supports European cinema festivals, the music sector and heritage and architecture protection projects, as well as special actions such as the European Capitals of Culture, the European Heritage Label and the European Union Prize for Literature.
