The squad includes 13 shooters, who will attend an Olympic camp in the European country. He hasn t got a visa for Croatia so can t go with the team. But he will go next week when he gets the necessary travel documents, a national level coach told IANS.

He has just got back to training after 15 days break due to Covid-19. He might feel okay, but it s not advisable to rush back immediately to hard training sessions as it could set in residual fatigue. Since the Tokyo Olympics are around 75 days away the talented shooter should take it easy otherwise it could prevent him from performing up to his optimum level, the coach told IANS.

The International Sport Shooting Federation announced on Friday that Croatia would host the last World Cup before the Tokyo Olympics that start on July 23. A 13-member Indian team will also compete in the European Shooting Championships, starting on May 20 in Croatia. The European competition will be organised in rifle, pistol and shotgun events.

Fifteen shooters, including two in shotgun (skeet), have qualified for the Tokyo Olympics, scheduled to begin on July 23, from the 2019 Olympic qualification cycle. Some of the shooters like Sanjeev Rajput, Manu Bhaker and Anjum Moudgil had already got their first shot of vaccines last week. The other shooters and members of the coaching staff who had not were vaccinated on Thursday to ensure good health and minimise the risk of contracting the virus, a coach told IANS.

Charter flight to take Indian shooters to Croatia   Tue, May 04 2021 08:20:22 AM New Delhi, May 4 (IANS): In view of the raging Covid-19 pandemic in India, the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) has arranged for a charter flight for the Olympic-bound shooters to travel to Croatia to train and compete in the European Shooting Championships this month. The national team will leave for Europe next Tuesday on a charter flight. The arrangement has been done to avoid the spread of Coronavirus. Before the team s departure, all the shooters and coaching staff will also be vaccinated. The private coaches and support staff associated with the national team will also get vaccines, the NRAI said in a statement on Monday.
