Blurred lines : Migration and internal EU borders

InfoMigrants By Emma Wallis Published on : 2021/02/24 The policy of migrant returns between EU countries is complex and creates blurred lines, an expert in EU law and migration has told InfoMigrants. In the light of two recent cases of returns from Austria to Hungary, we decided to take a closer look at the subject. It started with two cases highlighted by the Hungarian Helsinki Committee (HHC) in December 2020 and January 2021. Palestinians claim Israel blocked Covid vaccines from entering Gaza

Palestinians claim Israel blocked Covid vaccines from entering Gaza Bel Trew © Provided by The Independent Palestinian health officials have said Israel has blocked a shipment of 2,000 coronavirus vaccines to Gaza, the latest in an ongoing row between the two sides over access to jabs needed to stem the spread of the deadly pandemic. Palestinian Health Minister Mai Alkaila said Monday that Israel bore “full responsibility” for preventing the Palestinian Authority from sending 2,000 doses of Russia’s Sputnik V to Gaza. The jabs were intended for frontline health workers in the besieged strip. Israeli officials have, however, refuted the claim saying it had yet to decide on a transfer request it received for just 1,000 Sputnik V doses.

(AFP) Highlights Israel’s blockade of Gaza worsening coronavirus crisis, study warns. The lives of nearly two million Palestinians are at risk as Israel’s blockade on the Gaza Strip complicates the coronavirus crisis in the coastal enclave, a study has warned. According to a study conducted by the UK-based University of Bath and the European University Institute in Florence, Italy, in cooperation with IOD PARC consulting organization, Palestinians are aware of the risks and understand the importance of public health measures to reduce the number of infections, but many perceive the preventative measures as more challenging than the disease itself.
