France said on Sunday it was too soon to say whether holidays abroad would be possible this summer as a third wave of coronavirus infections continues to spread through Europe.
Tough COVID-19 restrictions are enforced in many European countries, hitting recovery prospects for the tourism industry s crucial peak season as governments are struggling to define a timeframe for the gradual reopening of national borders. I cannot say to you when we will be able to resume travel within Europe, French Minister for European Affairs Clement Beaune told LCI television. I hope it will be possible this summer.

The European Union has a ready package of measures, including sanctions, against Turkey in case if it fails to abandon the aggressive stance in various issues of international significance, French Minister of State for European Affairs Clement Beaune said. [Turkey must] choose to de-escalate or to uphold this aggressive stance, in which case Europe will be ready to respond. We have prepared a set of measures, including sanctions, which can be applied if necessary, Beaune told the French lower house.
The minister stressed that, while standing ready to protect its interests, the EU does not seek escalation and waits for Ankara to say whether it is ready to send signals of de-escalation.
Australia Nixes Vaccine Target; U.S. Cases Steady: Virus Update

Australia has abandoned a vaccine rollout target amid delays, while the rate of new infections across the U.S. was barely changed on Saturday as the country’s vaccination push gathered pace.
Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell said the U.S. economy is at an “inflection point” with stronger growth and hiring ahead but that Covid-19 remains a threat. Singapore reported a positive test in a fully vaccinated worker.
China’s Center for Disease Control and Prevention is considering mixing vaccines to improve the efficacy of its current shots, which is “not high,” a top Chinese health official was quoted as saying.
