Ahead of EHF Congress, high interest for European handball top positions 01/27/21 21 candidates have been nominated for nine positions at stake when a new Executive Committee will be elected at the EHF Congress in April Three months out of its election congress on 23 and 24 April 2021 in Luxembourg, the European Handball Federation has released the list of candidates nominated for positions within the EHF Executive Committee, the body which oversees the activities of the EHF. The announcement follows the end of the nomination period on 23 January and a subsequent check of all candidates nominated. Nine positions are open within the Executive Committee and for those 21 candidates have been nominated by their respective federations for the new electoral period which runs from 2021 to 2025.

The former head coach of the Romanian women’s national team and EHF lecturer passed away last Monday after an illness. He was 67. Macovei coached Romania from 1990-92 and again in 1999-2000, leading the team to fourth place at the World Championship in 1999 and to the quarter-final of the Olympic Games in Sydney the following year. He also had a coaching stint with the Macedonian national team in the 1990s.

Expectations had been high in the lead-up on the side of EHF Marketing GmbH, with the European Handball Federation’s marketing arm securing 40 broadcasters to distribute the EHF FINAL4 to more than 80 territories. This included a first-time presence in China as well as more than 800 broadcasting hours in the markets of the four participating teams – France, Germany, Hungary and Spain – and beyond.
