The top doctor in the Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph public health unit has ordered all schools to stop in-person learning starting tomorrow, with classes to return no sooner than April 19.
In Toronto, the public health unit says it has recommended the closure of 20 schools as COVID-19 cases are investigated.
The Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario and the Ontario English Catholic Teachers’ Association have also asked for schools in virus hot spots to move classes online until teachers can be vaccinated.

Geophysicist Magnus Gudmundsson said the volcanic eruption could be moving north from its original location.
âWe now see less lava coming from the two original craters,â he told The Associated Press.
âThis could be the beginning of second stage.â
Iceland, located above a volcanic hot spot in the North Atlantic, averages one volcanic eruption every four to five years.

The Icelandic Department of Emergency Management announced an immediate evacuation of the area. It said there was no imminent danger to life due to the site’s distance form popular hiking paths.

Due to Iceland s location on the Mid-Atlantic ridge, a divergent tectonic plate boundary, and its location over a hot spot, the northern Nordic island country has a high-concentration of active volcanoes.
Known as the land of fire and ice, the island currently has 32 active volcanic systems, 13 of which have seen eruptions since the settlement of Iceland in AD 874. The most active system is Grímsvötn.
Iceland is Europe s biggest and most active volcanic region, home to a third of the lava that has flowed on Earth over the past 5,000 years - since the Middle Ages, according to Visit Iceland.
