Friday, April 2 12:58 a.m. – Oconto man, 56, arrested for operating after revocation, failure to install ignition interlock device, improper display of license plate and on a Marinette County warrant, Van Dyke Street and Cook Avenue. 9:32 a.m. – identity theft complaint. 11:18 a.m. – Hubertus man, 67, cited for speeding, U.S. 41 and State 22. 12:05 p.m. – Oconto woman, 36, warned about harassment of another woman on Facebook Messenger. 12:44 p.m. – complaint of drug paraphernalia found, 600 block of Brazeau Avenue. 4:46 p.m. – Milwaukee man, 29, cited for speeding, U.S. 41 and State 22. 6:01 p.m. – Oconto Falls man, 30, cited for possession of drug paraphernalia and no proof of insurance, Fifth Street and Knapp Avenue.

Oconto officers make 172 stops, arrest 8 during interdiction operation

OCONTO - Eight people were arrested out of 172 traffic stops during an interdiction operation by the Oconto County Sheriff’s Office and numerous other law enforcement agencies. The interdiction was held between 2 p.m. and 10 p.m. on March 26 to locate drugs and other criminal violations within the county, said Sheriff Todd Skarban. The effort focused on the cities of Oconto, Oconto Falls and Gillett, and the towns of Stiles, Oconto Falls, Morgan, Gillett and Underhill. Police dogs were used 41 times, with 25 positive indications, Skarban said in a news release issued Monday morning. The eight arrests were for possession of a Schedule II Narcotic, possession of methamphetamine, operating while under the influence, bail jumping, possession of drug paraphernalia while on probation, warrants and criminal traffic violations.
