Wednesday update: Oswego County virus cases up 27 to 7,497

OSWEGO — Oswego County Public Health Director Jiancheng Huang announced Wednesday, April 21, that 27 additional residents tested positive for COVID-19. This brings the total cumulative number of positive cases since the county began monitoring for COVID-19 in March 2020 to 7,497. There are currently 231 active positive cases. Huang continues to urge eligible residents to get vaccinated. “We must all do our part to reduce the spread of the virus,” he said. “Get a vaccine if you are eligible and follow COVID-19 protocols. Wear a face mask, social distance, wash your hands frequently and avoid non-essential gatherings. These are the best ways to protect our families and communities and get us through the pandemic.”

Friday update: Oswego County virus cases up 18 to 7,388

OSWEGO — Oswego County Public Health Director Jiancheng Huang announced Friday, April 16, that 18 additional residents tested positive for COVID-19. This brings the total cumulative number of positive cases since the county began monitoring for COVID-19 in March 2020 to 7,388. There are currently 223 active positive cases. The health department continues to monitor coronavirus activity around the county and advises residents to remain vigilant in practicing COVID-19 safety protocols. “Please, wear a mask, wash your hands frequently and maintain social distancing,” said Huang. “We must continue these practices to prevent the spread of the virus and reduce the number of positive cases.” He also reminded eligible residents to sign up for a vaccine appointment as soon as they are able to. “Remember that if you are signing up for either the Moderna or Pfizer vaccines, they both require two shots,” Huang said. “Be sure you can keep both appointment
