Public Libraries Embrace Emerging Technology As the definition of literacy evolves to include digital and technological literacy, libraries are also evolving to include new technologies in their offerings to meet a wide range of community needs. As community needs evolve, libraries have been forced to evolve alongside, expanding their offerings to include necessary technologies, like Wi-Fi hot spots so people can access the Internet for free. This is often referred to as the “Library of Things,” or LoT.
