PAULDING – The body of a teenager who was the subject of an extensive three-day search in the woods near his Upper Michigan home has been discovered by teams who had been battling snow and sub-zero temperatures in their attempts to locate him.
Officials with the Ontonagon County Sheriff’s Office and County Emergency Management made the announcement late Monday afternoon after notifying members of the family.
During the past few days, over 400 volunteers along with local, state, tribal and federal agencies had searched for the teenager, who suffered from medical conditions which, combined with the weather, complicated the efforts.

ONTONAGON The search for a missing 17-year-old in Ontonagon County continued Monday, three days after he wandered off from home.
Cam Besonen was reported missing late Friday afternoon. Search operations continued Monday with nearly 100 volunteers and 30 law enforcement personnel, the Ontonagon County Sheriff’s Office said in a release. Bad weather limited air searches Monday.
Besonen was last seen around 5:45 p.m. Friday at his home in Haight Township. He is autistic and non-verbal. He does not have a sense of direction or how to yell for help, his mother, Jill Keeley-Besonen, said in a Facebook post. When last seen, he was wearing a blue jacket and light blue jeans.

PAULDING, MI The body of a missing Michigan teen with non-verbal autism was found Monday after a three-day search. According to the Associated Press, Cam Besonen’s body was found at some point in the day but the Ontonagon County Sheriff’s Office did not share details about where the body was found or who found him.
“Cam’s body was found about an hour ago,” wrote Cam’s mother Jill Keeley-Besonen on her Facebook page Monday evening. “Thank you all who participated in the search. He is with Jesus!”
