A city transit bus ran into the house at 728 Henderson after it hit a traffic light at the intersection of Henderson and Kimberley in Winnipeg Thursday.

James Van Gerwen, executive vice-president of the Amalgamated Transit Union, Local 1505, said on Friday the 61-year-old male driver, who has worked for Winnipeg Transit for about 15 years, is being treated in hospital for both his injuries from the collision and for an undisclosed medical emergency.

COVID-19 restrictions has cancelled this year s Santa Bus Food Drive.

THUNDER BAY – The Annual ATU Local 966 and City of Thunder Bay Santa Bus food drive has been cancelled this year due to COVID restrictions.
“We would like to thank the community for their support over the last 25 years, and we hope to return with this annual event in 2021,” said Ken Koza, Amalgamated Transit Union 966 President. “We wish everyone a safe and healthy holiday season and a happy new year.”
He added that residents should instead consider donating directly to the Thunder Bay Food Bank if they are able.

With all the self-flagellation about Canada’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic, who’d have thought that Ottawa’s vaccination program would start Tuesday, making us among the first in the country and the world?
It was a happy moment, but once the initial euphoria wears off, and it won’t take long, the provincial government will face difficult choices about the priority for distributing the vaccine. It’s easy to agree that health care workers and the vulnerable elderly should be at the front of the line, but after that, things get less clear.
