Newsmax late on Tuesday projected that Democrat Raphael Warnock had won one of two US Senate seats in the state of Georgia in a nail biter of an election that other news channels said was too close to call.
Newsmax called the race for Warnock over Republican Senator Kelly Loeffler “in consultation” with Decision Desk HQ, a company that provides voter data to news organisations, anchor Rob Schmitt said around 11:20 PM EST (0420 GMT). A second race between Republican Senator David Perdue and Jon Ossoff remained too close to call, Schmitt said.

In early December, Newsmax TV CEO Christopher Ruddy confidently told
Newsweek that his channel may overtake Fox News in the coming months. In reality, Newsmax s ratings have declined significantly following the election, and Fox News always remained far ahead of the right-wing channel in overall viewers.
Newsmax peaked at an average 398,000 views during the week of November 16 to 22, according to data from Nielsen Media Research. During the 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. slot that week, the channel saw about 970,000 views, and about 495,000 from the primetime slot of 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. The numbers then declined steadily, falling to an average of 191,000 the period of December 28 to January 1. That s a drop of 52 percent.

The former U.S. representative has also been broadcasting conspiracy theories about Dominion Voting Systems, echoing President Donald Trump’s debunked claims that the systems deleted or switched votes for him to votes for his opponent.
Such claims are not only wrong, but they are also dangerous and are “undermining democracy,” Chris Krebs, the former head of the Department of Homeland Security’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, said on “60 Minutes.” Krebs was fired by Trump after he disputed the Dominion conspiracy theory and called the 2020 election “the most secure in American history.”
