As Donald Trump continues to claim widespread fraud in the 2020 election and voting machine companies threaten legal action against networks echoing his accusations, the president s allies are allegedly walking back their comments. Trump s allies on Fox News, Newsmax, and OANN are running for the hills airing massive disclaimers saying they have no evidence supporting anything Trump and his allies have been saying, journalist Seth Abramson tweeted. Mostly these disclaimers don t come from the on-air talent the cowards who spread the lies.

Newsmax TV has, indeed, surged in ratings since the president lost his reelection bid to Joe Biden. In the wake of the election, loyal viewers of Fox News searched for more pro-Donald Trump coverage than they were getting at Fox, with the exception of primetime, where Sean Hannity, Laura Ingraham and Tucker Carlson are still largely in the president s corner.
While Fox News anchor Bret Baier, for example, was running video Monday a couple of hours ahead of primetime of a man resuscitating a baby elephant struck by a motorcycle in Thailand and showing a photo of Jupiter and Saturn appearing closer together than they have since 1623, Newsmax TV anchor Sean Spicer was (still!) talking about alleged irregularities involving the firm Dominion Voting, which the company has refuted.

“The demand letters identify dozens of factually inaccurate statements made by each of the organizations as part of a “disinformation campaign” to injure Smartmatic and discredit the 2020 U.S. election.”

Newsmax host, John Tabacco, spoke on behalf of the network with the statement, “Newsmax would like to clarify its news coverage and note that it has not reported as true certain claims made about these companies.”
He added, “Newsmax has found no evidence that either Dominion or Smartmatic owns the other or has any business association with each other. We have no evidence that Dominion uses Smartmatic’s software or vice versa. No evidence has been offered that Dominion or Smartmatic use software or reprogram software that manipulated votes in the 2020 election.”
