CNN parent rejects unfounded Trump ads about election fraud

AT&T Inc.’s WarnerMedia, the parent of CNN and other cable networks, rejected two ads from President Trump’s campaign that attacked the election results, according to a person familiar with the matter.
The company refused to air the spots because their claims of election fraud couldn’t be substantiated, said the person, who asked not to be identified because the matter is private.
The ad-tracking firm Advertising Analytics said it doesn’t have data showing the commercials aired on any major cable TV networks. It doesn’t monitor Newsmax, which carried at least one ad on its live online feed, or One America News Network, another smaller outlet that Trump has often praised.

Smartmatic, a voting technology company, sent cease and desist letters on Monday to Fox News, One America News, and Newsmax, demanding retractions.
The company has become the subject of conspiracy theories about the 2020 presidential election, and accused the media organizations of spreading them.
In a letter to Fox News obtained by Insider, Smartmatic says Fox News hosts Lou Dobbs, Jesse Watters, and Maria Bartiromo have been instrumental in spreading the conspiracy theories, which first gained widespread currency with lawsuits from ex-Trump lawyer Sidney Powell.

Voting machine company Smartmatic announced Monday it expects retractions from Fox News, Newsmax and One America News Network for coverage of President Donald Trump’s claims of voter fraud.
The company said Monday it is sending out legal notices and demand letters that “identify dozens of factually inaccurate statements made by each of the organizations as part of a ‘disinformation campaign’ to injure Smartmatic and discredit the 2020 U.S. election.”
