Agreed To One Nation, One Tax; Then Why Two Vaccine Prices?

‘Agreed To One Nation, One Tax; Then Why Two Vaccine Prices?’ Published by GulteDesk April 22, 2021 On Wednesday the Serum Institute of India (SII) has announced the price of Covid-19 vaccine. At government hospitals, the vaccine would cost Rs 400 while at private hospitals it is Rs 600. But SII will be supplying half of the capacities to the Centre and the remaining half to state governments and private hospitals across the country. Here the twist in the tale came as the Centre will be procuring the vaccine from SII at nominal price of Rs 150 while the state governments would have to shell out Rs 400 per vaccine. Learning this huge difference in prices, oppositions and the common man lashed at the Centre for their unilateral methods.

From May 1st, Covid Vaccine At Painful Price

From May 1st, Covid Vaccine At ‘Painful Price’ Published by GulteDesk April 22, 2021 From May 1st, everyone aged above 18 years is eligible to take Covid-19 vaccine. However, the Centre did not impose any price cap on the vaccine and left the decision to the companies i.e, Serum Institute of India (SII) and Bharat Biotech that are manufacturing the vaccine. There was a huge outrage on the Centre for not deciding on the price of the vaccine and the Congress party demanded for ‘One Nation… One Price.’ Taking the initiative, Serum Institute has announced the prices of vaccine. In a media statement, SII stated that fifty percent of their capacities will be serving the government of India’s vaccination drive while the rest fifty percent will be supplied to state governments and private hospitals.
