BOULDER Boulder County was eating natural and organic before it became cool.
The region has been a cradle for the industry for decades, first with long-time community chains like Alfalfa’s Market Inc. and later with home-grown national upstarts like Lucky’s Market.
But in early 2020, Lucky’s Market went from a rapidly-expanding name with 39 stores across the country to hurtling down to Earth after filing for bankruptcy and selling off locations back to original owners or to other chains.
Just more than a year later, Alfalfa’s shuttered its almost 40-year old store in Boulder and its Longmont location after that was open for just under six months, followed by its final location in Louisville. BizWest has also reported that the store was saddled with millions of dollars worth of debts to its vendors as those stores were closed and was ordered by a judge in late March to pay more than $1.4 million left on a defaulted credit line with co-founder Mark Retzloff.
Phyto Extractions Announces Departure Of Interim CEO
Phyto Extractions Inc., formerly known as Adastra Labs Holdings Ltd., (CSE:XTRX) (FRA: D2EP), said last Friday it had parted ways with J. Scott Munro, the company’s interim CEO and director.
Munro, who said he wanted to pursue “new external ventures,” will be replaced with a new permanent candidate.
Donald Dinsmore, chief operating officer of the British Columbia-based company, said that during Munro’s tenure Phyto Extractions had seen vast improvements across operations and the financial health of the company.”

Chicken prices have more than doubled year to date, and wing prices have set new records on account of a shortage, according to Urner Barry, a market research firm, reported The Wall Street Journal.
Boneless skinless chicken breast averaged around $1 a pound last year and is now trading at $2.04 a pound, according to the researcher, while prices for jumbo wings have risen to a record $2.92 a pound.
United Natural Foods Inc., a supermarket distributor, has seen chicken prices increase on account of higher restaurant demand, according to Chris Testa, president.
