Marvin Ayala is new director of OEU Marvin Ayala has been named the new director for Ocala Electric Utilities. He had been deputy director since August 2018. Before coming to the City of Ocala, Ayala served as director of electric operations for South Norwalk (Connecticut) Electric and Water, manager of electric field operations for Eversource Energy and supervisor of standard field operations for the United Illuminating Company in Norwalk, according to a city news release. He recently earned an MBA and has a bachelor’s degree in organizational leadership from Manhattan College. Doug Peebles, who has been with OEU since 2000, was recently promoted to be deputy director.

The landfill, which Department of Public Works and Facilities Chris Burney said encapsulates 71 acres, is being pegged as the possible location due to its size, terrain and inability to utilize the land otherwise.

EEI Recognizes United Illuminating with Emergency Response Award

(January 21, 2021) – The Edison Electric Institute (EEI) announced United Illuminating (UI) as a recipient of EEI s Emergency Response Award. Presented to EEI member companies, Emergency Response Awards recognize recovery and assistance efforts of electric companies following service disruptions caused by extreme weather or other natural events. The winners were chosen by a panel of judges following an international nomination process, and the awards were presented during EEI s virtual Winter Board and Chief Executives Meeting on Jan. 14. The organization presented UI with an Emergency Response Award for its restoration effort following Tropical Storm Isaias in August of 2020. Two of UI s Avangrid Networks sister companies, Central Maine Power and New York State Electric and Gas, received similar awards.
