Downtown Hickory to hold mini crawl event this weekend
The Hickory Downtown Development Association (HDDA) is partnering with the University City Commission and the Zeta Xi chapter of Delta Zeta at Lenoir-Rhyne University in presenting a spring-themed âmini crawlâ event.
The event will be held Saturday, April 3, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in downtown Hickory. Tickets are on sale for $10 per ticket, and only 100 tickets are available for purchase.
Ticket holders will pick up their passports and map on the day of the event from the HDDA tent on Union Square. The ticket holder will then hop around downtown to participating businesses.
Come the end of 2021, a peaceful transition of power is going to take place in Hickoryâs West Wing. United Arts Council of Catawba County Executive Director Kathy Greathouse is retiring Dec. 31. Sheâll quietly vacate her office in what is known as the West Wing, a building on the SALT Block in Hickory, and hand off her duties to the next director.
Before I talk about Kathy, here’s a bit of arts council history from the organization’s website at artscatawba.org: “The United Arts Council of Catawba County was formed as the Hickory Arts Council in 1960. We were re-incorporated in 1979 as the Catawba County Council for the Arts, and we adopted our current name in 2006 to reflect our partnerships with our vibrant cultural organizations and our supportive local government.”
