The Scottish Government has extended the business rates holiday for hospitality, leisure and retail for three months in its latest Budget.
Following today’s announcement (28 January), First Minister Nicola Sturgeon confirmed that if UK Chancellor Rishi Sunak delivers an extension at his own upcoming Budget Holyrood will use any money Scotland gets to ‘go further’.
In March last year Sunak announced that he was giving all occupied retail, hospitality and leisure businesses in England a 100% business rates holiday for 12 months during the 2020/21 financial year between 1 April 2020 and 31 March 2021.

(Alliance News) - Ladbrokes owner Entain on Thursday reported a strong end to 2020 and said it has ongoing momentum entering the new year as it announced the appointment of a female chief executive.
Total group net gaming revenue increased 7% in the fourth quarter of 2020, with online growing 41% but retail hit by restrictions and shop closures.
For the full-year, Entain expects earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation in a range of GBP825 million to GBP845 million, in line with its earnings guidance earlier in January.

Joe Biden’s Peloton exercise bike could pose a cyber-security risk should he bring it with him to the White House, experts have warned.
The high-end connected workout machine has cameras, microphones, and a tablet, that allow riders to record live video of themselves taking part in exercise classes. The bikes, which start at £1,750, also display leaderboards where users’ performance is ranked against others.
