UK and Albania sign new Partnership, Trade and Cooperation Agreement Newsdesk
The UK and Albania signed a new Partnership, Trade and Cooperation Agreement on Friday.
The deal is designed to deepen the economic relationship between the two countries and also political efforts to tackle serious organised crime. The Agreement will also allow for more political cooperation to improve the security of the Western Balkans.
The trade agreement will allow UK businesses to trade with Albania on the same terms as before the 1 January.
In 2019, trade between the UK and Albania was worth around £158m.
Speaking about the agreement, UK Government Minister for International Trade, Ranil Jayawardena MP said;
Bandiau Pres Cymru / Brass Bands Wales, the new representative body that aims to support the existing organisations and structures of the nation s banding community and music sector, has undertaken its next step with the launch of its website.
It follows extensive consultation and planning over the past five months by an elected steering group of individuals aimed at giving Wales a proactive catalyst for the long-term development of banding at all levels.
The organisation recently joined forces on a virtual webinar, entitled, Celtic Connections which brought together representatives from the national brass band bodies in Scotland, Wales & Northern Ireland to discuss the challenges faced and overcome with the COVID-19 pandemic.
Bandiau Pres Cymru | Brass Bands Wales is to meet with Caroline Dinenage MP, the UK Government Minister of State for Digital & Culture.
Chair, Andrew Jones will be joined by representatives of Brass Band England, the Scottish Brass Band Association and the Northern Ireland Band Association.
They will focus on the issues surrounding potential obstacles imposed on visa free cultural work and travel permits for brass bands and its amateur and professional musicians following the UKs departure from the EU.
Parliamentary question
The issue, with a focus on the potential additional levels of bureaucracy that would be faced by Cory Band in any future defence of their European Championship title, was initially raised in a parliamentary question by the Labour MP for Pontypridd, Alex Davies-Jones.
