Deaths due to COVID-19 among citizens aged 70 years or above in the UK have fallen by 97% in ten weeks of the mass vaccination campaign. According to the UK’s Office for National Statistics (ONS), last week, on average, 32 deaths were recorded daily among this age group. ALSO READ At the peak of the Coronavirus outbreak in January 2021, over 1,000 deaths were reported daily among this age group. Around 700 people in their 80s and 300 people in their 70s died every day across the UK. However, on Tuesday, only 56 deaths and 4,040 new cases of Coronavirus were reported in all age groups around the UK. It is the lowest daily death tally across the UK since October 2020.
