Distillery bosses were understood to be keen to resume full production, but were awaiting an indication from the authorities that their business was sufficiently important to justify bringing a full staff back in.

Government has given the green light to a 260,00t tariff-free quota for raw cane sugar imports
The government will introduce a 260,00 tonne tariff-free quota for raw cane sugar following a consultation on the matter, despite fears it will undercut UK growers.
The Department for International Trade (DIT) announced this week the outcome of the raw cane sugar autonomous tariff rate quota (ATQ) review and consultation.
An ATQ of 260,000 tonnes for raw cane sugar imported into the UK will apply from 1 January 2021, as part of the new UK Global Tariff, the department confirmed.

Steps have been taken to bring into effect the UK’s first independent global tariff regime for 50 years
Farmers have been provided with a degree of certainty after the government s new import tariff regime will largely maintain import tariffs at present levels.
Post-Brexit legislation implementing the UK Global Tariff (UKGT), to come into force from 1 January 2021, was laid in parliament this week.
It will replace the EU’s Common External Tariff as the UK’s Most Favoured Nation tariff – the framework it will use to trade independently outside of free trade agreements.
