Warehouse Keepers Must Reach for the Sky to Optimise Storage Facilities
Available Technology Enables Safer High Racked Storage Options
UK – With pressure growing on warehouse keepers to maximise the use of space the only option for many, to avoid extra rental costs, is to go up, that is to increase racking heights and optimise what they have available.
Industry professionals, such as the United Kingdom Warehousing Association (UKWA) have been warning of a shortage of useable storage space as new warehouse development lags behind demand in the light of both pandemic related and post Brexit problems. The need to improve the viability of existing buildings has thus grown ever stronger.

Immediate Acceptance of the Importance of the Entire Supply Chain
UK – Peter Ward, CEO of the United Kingdom Warehousing Association (UKWA) must be thinking, along with the rest of the country, if only the government had reacted as decisively and rapidly to the Covid-19 crisis as they appear to have done today.
Just yesterday we told how the UKWA boss had requested an update on the status of logistics workers through the current lockdown period. Like a rabbit from a hat, a letter went out today from the Department for Transport confirming that employees in the sector are considered ‘essential workers’ and accordingly will be allowed to travel for work. In addition, the children of logistics employees will be permitted to attend school along with those of other key workers.

Raise your hand if you have ever given more than a passing thought to warehousing. Although it’s one of the engines that power our shopping, logistics is generally something we take for granted.
Now, however, Britain is experiencing a severe shortage of storage space, according to the UK Warehousing Association: the rise in online shopping, combined with the closure of non-essential stores in November that left stock stuck in warehouses, reduced capacity to less than 3% across the country.
