GC notes increase in suspicious activity reports during pandemic

The GB Gambling Commission has made licensees aware of an increase in suspicious activity reports submitted to the National Crime Agency (NCA).
Coming in its latest emerging risks bulletin, the Commission noted that the NCA had recieved more suspicious activity report submissions during the Covid-19 pandemic.
A statement from the bulletin read: “The NCA during COVID-19 pandemic has seen an increase in SAR submissions and it is vital that operators submit a SAR to the United Kingdom’s Financial Intelligence Unit (UKFIU) whenever there is knowledge or suspicion of money laundering or terrorist financing.

MQM founder Altaf Hussain s terrorism speech trial starts January 31, 2022, UK s Crown Prosecution Service has confirmed.
He was charged under the Terrorism Act, 2006 on suspicion of intentionally encouraging or assisting offences contrary to Section 44 of the UK s Serious Crimes Act, 2007.
MQM founder made speech only for “political purposes” and didn’t encourage terrorism, his lawyer has argued.
LONDON: Muttahida Qaumi Movement founder Altaf Hussain will go on trial in January next year at the UK s Kingston Crown Court for allegedly using hate speech and encouraging an act of terrorism.

he UK Government’s new “action plan” to protect journalists will do little to burnish the credentials of a would-be champion of media freedom that continues to imprison the world’s most famous dissident journalist.
Continuing to promote itself as the soi-disant global defender of journalistic freedom, the UK Government has just grandly unveiled a National Action Plan for the Safety of Journalists to protect newsmen and women from harassment and threats. UK journalists have apparently “suffered abuse and attacks while going about their work,” and the government is selflessly riding to their rescue. The plan involves “new training for police officers as well as aspiring and existing journalists, and commitments from social media platforms and prosecution services to take tough action against abusers.”
