Photo: Royal Navy. THE Forth is set to host elements of a major UK-led multinational exercise next week when Exercise Strike Warrior gets underway. One of the largest military exercises of its kind in Europe, Strike Warrior 21 which incorporates Exercise Joint Warrior 21-1, will run from May 8 to 20 with a few of the participating vessels departing from ports on the East Coast of Scotland. For this exercise, port visits will be kept to a minimum, however vessels are expected to arrive at Rosyth and Leith before joining the exercise. Joint Warrior 21-1 is integrated with Exercise Strike Warrior 21 as part of the final preparations for the first deployment of the UK’s Carrier Strike Group (CSG) next month. HMS Queen Elizabeth, the Royal Navy’s Fleet Flagship sits at the centre of the CSG which will deploy shortly after the completion of Strike Warrior.

May 3 (UPI) The carrier strike group led by the British aircraft carrier HMS Queen Elizabeth set off for a two-week exercise in preparation for a 28-week deployment.
The exercise, known as Exercise Strike Warrior, will include over 20 warships and three submarines, as well as 150 aircraft. Eleven NATO and allied nations will be involved, the Royal Navy said on Saturday in a statement.

17 F-35Bs have already landed aboard British aircraft carrier HMS Queen Elizabeth ahead of CSG21 deployment.
As already reported 10 USMC F-35Bs aircraft, belonging to the VMFA-211 Wake Island Avengers, based at MCAS (Marine Corps Air Station) Yuma, Arizona, have arrived at RAF Lakenheath, UK between Apr. 26 and 28, 2021 to embark on HMS Queen Elizabeth, for UK’s new aircraft carrier’s first operational cruise, named CSG21.
On her maiden operational deployment, HMS QE will travel to the Indo-Pacific region leading the largest naval and air task force under British command since the Falklands war. The UK’s aircraft carrier HMS Queen Elizabeth has left its homeport in Portsmouth to participate in the final exercise off Scotland ahead of its maiden deployment.
The aircraft carrier will lead the UK Carrier Strike Group. Other members of the strike group such as warships HMS Defender, HMS Diamond and HMS Kent have also sailed from the city, while HMS Richmond is slated to leave from Plymouth to join the exercise.
