The aim is to boost Covid-19 recovery efforts and support people into jobs through investment in skills, local businesses, communities and places.

Gwynedd businesses encouraged to apply for cash from the UK Community Renewal Fund

An opportunity for Gwynedd businesses and organisations to apply for cash from the UK Community Renewal Fund. The UK Government has set up an UK Community Renewal Fund with a budget of £220 million for 2021/22 only. Local areas such as Gwynedd can submit applications of up to £3 million to the Fund with a suggestion that individual applications should be in the region of £500,000 with the potential for smaller applications to come together under the guidance of one partner to apply for financial support. Cllr Gareth Thomas, Gwynedd Council s Cabinet Member for Economic Development, said: Business groups, voluntary or community groups and education providers including colleges or universities can apply for funding under the themes of investment in skills, local businesses and communities and places as well as supporting people into employment.

Dorset organisations urged to bid for slice of £220 million

CIVIC officials have called for organisations to apply for a share of the Government s £220million Community Renewal Fund. Organisations in the Dorset Council area can bid for up to £3million, providing its project can be delivered and completed by March 31, next year. The fund is specifically for initiatives supporting people and communities. Applications are being sought from voluntary and community organisations, umbrella business groups, universities and colleges, local councils and private sector organisations that provide services that benefit other organisations or individuals. Dorset Council councillor Tony Ferrari said: “We welcome this opportunity from government as part of the national levelling up agenda, and also helping recovery following the coronavirus pandemic.

Anglesey businesses can bid for UK Community Renewal Fund support

Businesses and organisations on Anglesey have until Friday, April 30, to apply for a share of the new UK Community Renewal Fund. Anglesey is one of only 100 areas in the UK that is eligible to apply for this £220 million funding pot. The Isle of Anglesey County Council is administering the new funding provided by the UK Government to support local areas in preparation of the launch of the UK Shared Prosperity Fund in 2022. It is currently inviting initial expressions of interest (EOI) from eligible local organisations wishing to be considered as applicants or beneficiaries of the fund. OPINION – Businesses should apply for renewal fund support

Whilst much of the political attention is currently focused on the Welsh Parliament Election, the House of Commons remains a hive of activity. Alongside my roles on several select committees and as a Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Treasury, I continue to work hard in representing Montgomeryshire and discussing local issues within Westminster. I recently met with UK Government Ministers to discuss improving rural mobile and broadband signal, and ensuring the Government delivers on its commitment to tackle ‘not spots’ which are sadly still all too common across mid Wales. The positive news is that BT and other mobile providers are committed to building new masts across Montgomeryshire that will help tackle this issue.
