Club Supporter, based in Houghton-le-Spring, helped community-run and semi-professional sports clubs raise over £35,000 last year, during one of the most difficult periods in grassroots history. The app – which is the brainchild of former school friends Anthony Daglish, David Copple and Philip Cummings, along with colleague Paul Deehan – provides clubs with a free platform to not only engage with fans, but to secure the funding required to sustain their futures.
BGC poll reveals public opposition to bet limits Share
Betting and Gaming Council (BGC) has uncovered public opposition to government-mandated betting limits.
The poll, conducted by
YouGov, surveyed 1,683 adults from across the UK, finding that 51% were in opposition to the establishment of arbitrary bet limits by politicians, with 27% in favour.
A second question also revealed that 59% of respondents agreed that ‘if there are too many limits placed on people to bet’ then they would switch to unlicensed and illegal black market operators, whilst 10% disagreed with the statement.
This information follows a report published by
PwC last month, which found that the amount staked with illicit black market sports betting and casino operators had doubled from £1.4 billion to £2.8 billion, whilst the number of UK punters wagering with these websites had increased from 210,000 to 460,000.
