Britain left the European Union s Single Market and Customs Union when the Brexit transition period between the two sides ended at 11pm on New Year s Eve. It sealed the UK s full departure from the bloc, freeing the nation from Brussels rules and regulations to become its own independent country. During months of negotiations with the EU on a post-Brexit trade deal, fisheries became a key focal point, with fishermen warning the Boris Johnson not to sell-out and betray the industry in terms of the access rights and catch quotas for EU vessels.

Sir John Redwood has called on Boris Johnson to use Britain s new powers from Brexit to immediately ban EU super trawlers from British waters. Speaking to Unlocked, Sir John also called on the Prime Minister to double Britain s fishing fleet. The demand comes after UK Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) confirmed EU and English vessels would not be able to take part in pulse fishing.
Age, race, income linked to rates of telehealth visits in COVID pandemic
Older people, Asians, and those with Medicaid coverage and preference for a non-English language at one US hospital system had fewer completed telemedicine visits than their peers during the COVID-19 pandemic, according to a study of patients scheduled for primary care or specialty telehealth visits at the University of Pennsylvania.
The retrospective cohort electronic medical records study, published today in
JAMA Network Open, also found that older people, women, blacks, Latinos, and those with lower household incomes were less likely than other patients to use video for telehealth visits. The results were comparable across all medical specialties.
