ASX to rise, Apple paces Wall St higher Save Share Australian shares are set to rise at the open, amid fresh gains in New York, including a record high for the Nasdaq. The currency, iron ore, oil and gold all rose too. ASX futures were up 45 points or 0.7 per cent to 6682 near 8am AEDT. The currency lifted 0.3 per cent. At the close in New York, US stocks were solidly higher with the Dow up 338 points or 1.1 per cent. The S&P 500 was up 1.3 per cent and the Nasdaq was up 1.3 per cent. Apple was the top boost to all three US benchmarks, rising 5 per cent to a more than three-month high after a report said it plans to increase iPhone production by 30 per cent in the first half of 2021.
