Early results have the Scottish National Party (SNP) winning the election held on Thursday, May 6, but there is uncertainty over whether it would secure the crucial majority that could kickstart another referendum vote. London was also voting for its mayor and local authority but results are not yet in.
Labour s Sadiq Khan, who has been in office since 2016, has 39 per cent of first preference votes, while Conservative candidate Shaun Bailey has 37 per cent. Second preference votes have not yet been counted. Going into Saturday, the SNP has won key seats but its hopes of securing an overall majority are on a knife edge.
