DRIVERS in Maldon are urged to plan their routes as roadworks are expected over the coming weeks. From Saturday (April 10), Station Road in Wickham Bishops will be closed for two days from its junction with Station Road for 125m to the west. This is so UK Power Networks can undertake new connection works. Alternative routes can be found in Station Road, Church Road, Blacksmiths Lane, Maypole Road, Langford Road, Langford Road Roundabout, Maldon Road, Witham Road and The Street. On Monday (April 12), Willow Grove in South Woodham Ferrers will be closed from its junction with Fen roundabout for 150m. The 11-day closure is for Essex and Suffolk Water to undertake new connection works.

Engineers are currently investigating power cuts that left properties across Peterborough without electricity today (April 7).

More than 2,200 properties in several parts of Norfolk and beyond were hit by a major power cut on Wednesday morning, UK Power Networks said.

A large power cut hit more than 2,200 homes across several areas of Norfolk and beyond on Wednesday.
UK Power Networks said they were first made aware of the issue at 8.37am.
By 8.56am the utility firm said it had restored power to more than half of the affected homes and businesses remotely, leaving 1,023 without electricity.
Engineers have been sent out to investigate a suspected issue affecting an underground cable.
