UK and France seek greater cooperation on vaccines, climate 1 minute read
London, May 4 (EFE).- The top diplomats of the United Kingdom and France met here Tuesday on the sidelines of the G7 foreign ministers conference for talks on ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in areas such as climate chance and boosting the supply of Covid-19 vaccines.
“The Foreign Secretary (Dominic Raab) and Minister (Jean-Yves) Le Drian discussed the importance of cooperation ahead of COP26, particularly on international climate finance,” the UK Foreign Office said in a statement.
COP26, the 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties, is scheduled for Nov. 1-12 in Glasgow, Scotland.
Foreign ministers from the Group of Seven wealthy industrialised nations are gathering Tuesday in London - their first face-to-face meeting in more than two years - to grapple with threats to health, prosperity and democracy. Host country Britain has warned that the increasingly aggressive activities of Russia, China and Iran pose a challenge to democratic societies and the international rule of law. UK Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab said Britain s presidency of the G-7 this year is an opportunity to bring together open, democratic societies and demonstrate unity at a time when it is much needed to tackle shared challenges and rising threats.
G7 Foreign Ministers are discussing geopolitical threats that undermine "democracy, freedoms, and human rights"on Tuesday in their 1st meeting since 2019.
