The COVID-19 pandemic, a cycle of lockdowns to control the spread of a deadly virus and the havoc it wreaked on global health and economy is the inescapable defining feature of the year 2020.
However, a glimmer of hope that 2021 could be healthier came in the form of safe and effective vaccines in human trials, with one of them symbolising a real boost to India-UK relations.
New Delhi [India], December 17 (ANI): United Kingdom s foreign secretary Dominic Raab on Thursday concluded his three-day visit to India with the signing of a series of agreements in Bengaluru signalling the UK s strong partnership with India on climate change.
According to an official statement, Raab met the Chief Minister of Karnataka BS Yediyurappa to discuss strengthening UK and Karnataka relations in key areas, including higher education, trade, and investment. During the meeting, he oversaw the signing of a British Council and Karnataka Government MoU which will accelerate cooperation in Higher Education partnerships, as well as increase student exchanges between Karnataka and the UK.

Experts from India and the UK will join forces through a new virtual hub to deliver vaccines for coronavirus and other deadly viruses, the UK Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab announced in India on 16 December.
The Foreign Secretary met Prime Minister Modi to discuss the UK and India working together as a force for good and launching the pioneering new vaccines hub which will share best practices for regulation and clinical trials, and foster innovation. He also visited a Delhi health clinic where Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccines will be administered.
