Nature loss is accelerating rapidly as one million species face extinction
The commitment by China and some 50 other countries to protect 30 percent of the earth s land and oceans by 2030 was a much-needed step to halt biodiversity loss and prevent species extinction, analysts said.
Realizing the mission, though, will not be easy as the new goal would mean a huge scale-up in the protected land and ocean area compared to current levels, they said.

New Delhi: Currently battling a fresh wave of the raging coronavirus pandemic at home and hailing India as the “pharmacy of the world”, Britain on Sunday officially invited New Delhi to attend the G-7 summit to be hosted by it in Cornwall from June 11 to 13 this year. It had first been confirmed last month that British PM Boris Johnson had invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi to “join the UK-hosted G-7”. Mr Johnson will also now visit India before the G-7 summit.

Lions supporters have started a petition calling for this summer’s tour to South Africa to be postponed to 2022 rather than being staged in the UK and Ireland.
Over 1,450 fans have so far urged the home unions not to abandon 133 years of Lions history by holding the series against the Springboks on these shores, which is one three contingency plans being examined due to the coronavirus pandemic.
