United Federal Credit Union says its 2020 Pay It Forward initiative has resulted in employees donating more than $17,700 to 63 different families, individuals, and community organizations across the six states where branches are located. The Pay It Forward initiative provides $20 to every employee to give to a person or group of their choice. Many departments and branches combined funds and added their own financial contributions to create a larger donation. Among the groups to get support as part of Pay it Forward are the United Way, Toys for Tots, the Logan Center, Lory’s Place, and Emergency Shelter Services of Berrien County. The Pay It Forward program started in 2008 with a request from employees that they use the money otherwise spent on office holiday celebrations to help people in the community.
