Human Rights Day was on Dec. 10, and itâs never too early to have conversations with your little ones about the value of each personâs life.
Even if they might not be ready to read through the United Nationsâ Universal Declaration of Human Rights, talking about them in a general, simplified way still can be accessible to even the youngest children.
Sharing picture books together is a low-pressure way to get these conversations started, and the following titles are especially good for conveying the importance of valuing yourself, your fellow humans and the planet we all live on. Contributed
An anti-union campaign
Though the first Lush store was opened in Poole, England in 1995, the company s offices, factory, and distribution centers are in Vancouver and Toronto. While these centers support more than 250 retail stores across North America, the current unionizing drive is focusing on the offices and manufacturing centers in Toronto and does not include retail workers.
The Lush union s goal is to get 65% of support from an eligible group of almost 1,400 employees. Only 40% is necessary to apply for a vote with the Ontario Labour Relations Board (OLRB) which oversees union activity in Canada. Majority support in this private ballot vote would be necessary for union certification.
