THE Philippine Football Federation (PFF) expressed disappointment over the delay in the Filipino naturalization of Spanish striker Bienvenido Marañon, but it remains hopeful of it eventually getting the nod.
In a statement released on Tuesday night, PFF President Mariano Araneta said it was unfortunate that the papers of Mr. Marañon did not progress as hoped just as they were looking forward to adding the player to the national team in time for a key continental tournament next month.
The PFF statement came on the heels of the naturalization of Ivorian basketball player Angelo Kouame being signed into law by President Rodrigo R. Duterte on Monday and announced a day later.

REIGNING Philippines Football League champion United City Football Club (UCFC) will fly to Uzbekistan for its centralized matches in the AFC Champions League.
Asia’s premier club football tournament will take place from June 25 to July 11 and will see UCFC initially test its mettle in Group I against Kawasaki Frontale of Japan, Beijing FC and either Daegu FC of Korea or Chiangrai United of Thailand.
It will be the debut outing of the team in the AFC Champions League as UCFC, having played in the tournament previously as Ceres-Negros FC; something it is very excited about.

Reigning Philippines Football League (PFL) champion United City and runner-up Kaya will represent the country in the AFC tournaments lined up this year and learned of their respective fixtures in draws held on Wednesday in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
United City will be competing in the AFC Champions League, while Kaya will try to reach the group play of said competition, with the AFC Cup also waiting for it if ever.
