Close to 30 women gathered in Honiara, Solomon Islands last week to research, develop and validate gender-inclusive recommendations to the Traditional Governance, Customs and Facilitation Bill (TGCFB).
This was tailored to reflect the unique challenges women face, and work with the Ministry of Women, Youth, Children and Family Affair to ensure women’s and girls’ voices are heard and included when adopting the Bill.

Since March 19, the UN Development Programme in Solomon Islands, in cooperation with the Government of Solomon Islands and the International Labor Organization (ILO), is delivering a one-month training leadership in peacebuilding programme for youths in the Weather Coast of South Guadalcanal.
The training is conducted within the Empowering Youth as Agents for Peace and Social Cohesion in the Solomon Islands Project’s framework.
More than 100 young community leaders aged 16-24 years from five youth caucuses participated in a complex training programme on leadership, peacebuilding, effective governance and gender equality. Among the main training’s goals are to empower youth to become peacebuilders and leaders in their communities and boost youth

The Centre for Social Change and Economic Development Nigeria (CSCED) says it is training 600 farmers and herders on alternative feedstock and commercial opportunities from its value chain development in Taraba to mitigate farmers/herders crisis in the state.
Alhaji Mustapha Baba, the team leader, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Jalingo on Saturday. x
Baba said that 20 agricultural extension workers which were already trained in 2020 had finished refresher course for the outreach extension training for 600 farmers and herders on alternative livestock fodder/feedstock and other opportunities.
According to him, the training is being conducted in collaboration with with the Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) and the ministries of Agriculture of Taraba, Benue and Nassarawa states where the programme is being implemented.
