1.1 GENERAL PRINCIPLES
Aviation plays an important role in humanitarian operations around the world, especially in countries where overland transport is difficult or impossible due to insecurity, damaged or inadequate infrastructure, and challenging climatic conditions. Aviation allows the transport of humanitarian aid workers and humanitarian cargo to communities in some of the world’s most inaccessible places.
During the fifth session of the United Nations High Level Committee on Management (HLCM) held in New York from 12-13 June 2003, the World Food Programme (WFP) accepted the request of the Committee to take the responsibility for administering air transport services for UN agencies and NGOs involved in humanitarian and “other” activities not directly or specifically for peacekeeping. Kinshasa, Jan. 21, 2021 The future of DR Congo depends on that of Africa, said the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General in DRC, Mrs Leila Zerrougui, who is also chief of MONUSCO, the United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the DR Congo.
In her last news conference held here Wednesday to mark the end of her mandate, Zerrougui said “DRC can be a factor which can draw the continent to the top.”
She called on all Congolese to take a step back and look forward to the long-term to get out of underdevelopment and continue working for peace and stability in DR Congo.

The Secretary-General is shocked by the massacre of civilians, during recent attacks attributed to the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) in the villages of Tingwe, Mwenda and Nzenga, near Beni territory in North Kivu Province, in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. He strongly condemns such violence against the civilian population and calls for the perpetrators of these atrocities to be swiftly brought to justice. He offers his condolences to the families of the victims and to the Government of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

New Delhi: A senior Pakistan Army colonel on official duty in Congo has been accused of converting United Nations mission employees to Islam.
Islam is a minority religion in the Central African country and as per the reports; the colonel approached a few Christian UN mission employees and asked them to convert to Islam.
According to a report by IBT, Colonel Saqib Mushtaqi is a contingent deputy commander part of United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO).
