The President of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), Mr Affail Monney, has commended media practitioners and media outlets in the country for the professional manner in which they covered this year’s elections.
While acknowledging that there were some shortfalls in their work, projections and analysis, he said, the quality of coverage and reportage were appreciably high.
Mr Monney was speaking at a forum organised by the GJA and United Nations Education Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) to review media coverage of the elections

The forum which was held at the International Press Centre yesterday, was attended by key industry players who shared ideas and experiences on the elections and matters subsequent.

1. The Walls of Benin (800-1400AD)
In present-day Edo State, are the longest ancient earthworks in the world, and probably the largest man-made structure on earth, The Walls of Benin.
They enclose 6500 square kilometres that connected about 500 communities. At over 16000km long, it was thought to be twice the length of the Great Wall of China, until it was announced in 2012 that the Great Wall is about 21,000km long. The Walls of Benin (800-1400AD). [face2faceafrica]
2. Nigeria is the Twin Capital of the World
Igbo-Ora, a little town in Oyo state, Nigeria, has been nicknamed Twin capital of the World because of its unusually high rate of twins that is put as high as 158 twins per 1000 births. Locals boast that every family in the town has at least one twin!

The ancient city of Takshashila in modern-day Pakistan has often been regarded as one of the oldest human settlements on the planet. During the course of its existence, the city was occupied by Alexander the Great, Persian rulers, as well as ancient India’s Maurya Empire, among others.
Indian social media users have lashed out at a serving Pakistani diplomat who claimed in a tweet that the ancient Takshashila University had once been part of “Ancient Pakistan”.
