Taiwan's presidential office said on Thursday that President Tsai Ing-wen and the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations Kelly Craft had discussed Taiwan's international participation and deepening Taiwan-U.S. ties during a call between the two.
The United States stands by Taiwan and always will, the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations Kelly Craft said on Wednesday following a call with Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen, after her own trip to Taipei this week got scrapped.
Tsai thanked Craft at the opening of the virtual meeting, which The Associated Press witnessed, "for the staunch support for Taiwan s international participation and for your efforts to deepening of the Taiwan-U.S. relationship and . for always speaking up for Taiwan at the most important times."
