VOV.VN - The rate of overweight and obese children in the nation has more than doubled over the past 10 years, according to recent nutrition research conducted by the National Institute of Nutrition.
Vietnam is facing an increasing burden caused by overweight and obesity levels.
Last year saw the rate reach 26.8% in urban areas, 18.3% in rural districts, and 6.9% in mountainous regions. Specifically, 19 out of every 100 children aged between 5 and 19 were classified as overweight or obese, a sharp increase compared to 8.5 out of every 100 children recorded in 2010.
The research, the largest of its kind, was conducted over 22,400 households from 25 various provinces and cities across the country. Its aims is to collect indicators of anthropology, micronutrients, and individual diets, as well as gaining information on food security and food hygiene.
The country’s COVID-19 positivity rate remained a little above 8.34 per cent.
More than 100 deaths were reported on Thursday for the third consecutive day. There are 77,294 active cases in the country, according to the NCOC data.
After the latest addition, total number of fatalities due to COVID-19 in Pakistan surged to 15,872 while the tally of cases stood at 739,818.
The NCOC data further reveals that 4,740 people have recovered from coronavirus during the past 24 hours.
The number of deaths in Punjab 68 is higher than the rest of the provinces/regions during the last 24 hours; 29 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), 6 in Islamabad, 3 in Sindh and 2 in Balochistan.

Boise State University student Halima Hamud has been awarded the prestigious Harry S. Truman Scholarship for her tremendous academic success and leadership accomplishments. She is one of 62 scholars selected this year out of a record number of 845 candidates who were nominated by 328 colleges and universities.
Hamud will graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Political Science degree in May 2022 and is Boise State’s fifth Truman scholar. The scholarship will fund her graduate studies in international relations with a focus in East African studies.

Bridgetown, Barbados April 15, 2021 – CDEMA deployed a Detailed Damage Sectoral Analysis (DDSA) team on April 14, 2021 in support of the humanitarian efforts in St. Vincent and the Grenadines following the explosive eruptions of La Soufriere volcano that commenced on April 9, 2021. The DDSA team will support the government by providing an assessment of key sectors and guidance towards estimating needs and associated costs, which will inform the relief and recovery efforts.
