U.S. Ambassador to Lebanon visits UNRWA following announcement of resumption of aid Format Today, United States Ambassador to Lebanon H.E. Ms. Dorothy C. Shea visited the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) Lebanon Field Office where she met with the Deputy Commissioner-General of the Agency, Ms. Leni Stenseth and the Director of UNRWA Affairs, Lebanon, Mr. Claudio Cordone. Also attending the meeting were the United Nations Acting Special Coordinator for Lebanon and Resident and Humanitatian Coordinator, Ms. Najat Rochdi, the Chairperson of the Lebanese-Palestinian Dialogue Committee, Dr. Hassan Mneimneh and the Palestinian Ambassador to Lebanon, Mr. Ashraf Dabbour. The visit follows the 7 April U.S. announcement to resumption of funding to UNRWA with a contribution of US$ 150 million.

State of Palestine : Humanitarian Situation Report, No. 1, January – March 2021 Format Highlights • As of 31 March 2021, there were 270,878 confirmed cases of COVID-19, of which 50 per cent were women and 13 per cent were children under the age of 18. • UNICEF distributed e-vouchers for accessing hygiene kits to 5,900 families in Hebron and Bethlehem Governorates benefitting 35,400 people. A further 7,683 adults (3,903 men and 3,780 women) and 510 kindergarten staff in the Gaza Strip were provided with hygiene kits. • Through family centres in the Gaza Strip, UNICEF and its local partners reached 3,599 vulnerable children (57 per cent girls) with structured psychosocial support, including individual counselling, group counselling, life skills, child-parent interaction sessions, and other psychosocial support group activities. A further 622 children (42 per cent girls) benefited from individual case management.
