The National Youth Commission (NYC), in partnership with the United Nations Department of Economic (UN DESA) and Social Affairs and the Office of the Secretary General’s Envoy on Youth, is now accepting application to the 10th Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) Youth Forum 2021.
ECOSOC will be held virtually on April 7 to 8.
The forum aims to provide a platform for a dialogue among young leaders from around the world on solutions affecting youth wellbeing.
The NYC will be nominating two youth delegates, one male and one female, to the conference.
Qualified youth delegates are Filipino citizens who are 15 to 24 years old (UN youth age), has background and knowledge on sustainable development goals (SDGs); preferably active member of a youth organization, has a good command of written and spoken English, with Philippine passport of Philippine Statistics Authority-issued birth certificate, must be willing to be an NYC volunteer or to comply

Godwin Emefiele, governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, has defended the apex bank’s decision to ban banks from servicing cryptocurrency exchanges in the country.
Appearing before a joint Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and Other Financial Institutions; ICT and Cybercrime; and Capital Market, Emefiele remarked that the CBN ban was in the best interest of Nigerians.
According to a report by media outlet Punch, while addressing the Senate committee, Emefiele remarked:
“Cryptocurrency is not legitimate money. Cryptocurrency has no place in our monetary system at this time and cryptocurrency transactions should not be carried out through the Nigerian banking system.”
Over 800 youths give conditions ahead of NYEAP launch, implementation

Over 800 youths across the country, Wednesday, gave conditions ahead of Nigeria Youth Employment Action Plan, NYEAP, launch, and implementation.
This was according to a survey conducted from responses of young people who attended the decent work youth labs organised by the youth lab across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, and tasked the government on, ensuring young people are meaningfully engaged in the NIYEAP implementation; creating access to digital skills programmes and job fairs for youth to take advantage of the digital economy; ensuring equality and rights of young workers especially girls with little or no educational qualifications are respected and protected; and providing opportunities for social businesses especially in the green economy to thrive and adequate funding and training for youth entrepreneurs.
