Digital ship clearance project seeks pilot port IMO-Singapore project will create a Maritime Single Window ship clearance system in a pilot port, with a view to supporting more ports in future.

The International Maritime Organization (IMO) has issued a call for expressions of interest from countries with a medium-sized port to take part in a pilot project to establish an efficient digitalized system for electronic exchange of information in ports for ship clearance.

th of March, the Embassy held a first virtual meeting with the Oslo Center, a Norwegian peace, democracy and human rights institution, to exchange information on the Afghan peace process and to identify possible areas of collaboration. The virtual meeting was attended by the Executive Chair of the Center and former Norwegian Prime Minister, Kjell Magne Bondevik, Ambassador Ghafoorzai, Executive Director of the Center, Finn Jarle Rode and Senior Advisor Bjarte Tørå.
The Oslo Center was founded in 2006 by former PM Kjell Bondevik and former Cabinet Minister Einar Steensnæs as an “independent, non-partisan, non-governmental organisation.” The organisation is focused on United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 16: “peace, justice and strong institutions,” particularly on the functioning, strength and stability of institutions.

In honour of Commonwealth Day on Monday 8 March, the British High Commission Nassau is holding a climate action photography contest for young Bahamians (ages 11-18).
Details of the contest are on the UK in The Bahamas Facebook Page. Young Bahamians aged 11-14 and 15-18 years old can submit photos that represent Nature-based Solutions to Combat Climate Change and its Impacts. Prizes in each age category include a Go Pro Hero 5 camera worth over $400 and a snorkel experience at the BREEF Coral Reef Sculpture Garden and Coral Nursery.

MUCH more than being designed just to be aesthetically attractive, green buildings are good for the environment. They impact consumers’ choices and decisions based on the idea of sustainability. In fact, sustainability itself has become the very focus of architects today when designing these green buildings.
At a more ambitious level, green cities are being eyed and developed, and green buildings play an important role. Suffice to say, achieving that ambition will require more architects with insightful understanding on sustainability, along with good skills and knowledge of the building industry. After all, what is a green city without green buildings?
