THE HAGUE, Netherlands – 27 May 2021 – The Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) and the World Customs Organization (WCO) jointly organised an online training course on the enforcement of the Chemical Weapons Convention’s (CWC) transfer regime of scheduled chemicals, held from 25 to 27 May . The Head of OPCW’s Implementation Support Branch, Ms Beatrix Lahoupe, remarked: “New and evolving security threats, particularly those posed by non-state actors, require robust capabilities within customs authorities. The OPCW assists its Member States in enhancing national capacities in this area. This course strengthens customs officers’ trade monitoring skills within the CWC’s national, regional, and global security context.”

The Government of Ireland has made a voluntary contribution of €270,000 to support the Council of Europe Action Plans for Armenia, for Georgia and for Ukraine, the cooperation activities in Kosovo , the webcasting of public hearings of the European Court of Human Rights, the prevention of violence against women, the European SOGI Governmental Expert Network and the Lanzarote Convention Monitoring Mechanism.
The agreements were signed on 26 May 2021 by Ambassador Breifne O’Reilly, Permanent Representative of Ireland to the Council of Europe, and by Mr Bjørn Berge, Deputy Secretary General.
Over the past 75 years, there have been many UN Security Council (UNSC) resolutions acknowledging Israel’s violations of international law, including a Resolution under Chapter VI of the UN Charter,
