Daily Press Briefing by the Office of the Spokesperson for the Secretary-General, 10 February 2021- Eswatini Format Eswatini A quick update from Eswatini on what our colleagues on the ground are doing there to address the pandemic: The UN team, led by Resident Coordinator Nathalie Ndongo-Seh, has been ramping up its support for the country’s response. Eswatini has seen a surge of cases in recent months. The UN team has contributed more than $8 million to national efforts to respond and recover from the social and economic impacts of the pandemic. The World Health Organization (WHO) has mobilized two teams of health experts and is also supporting efforts to procure and distribute vaccines.

While HIV testing is a priority for all pregnant women, many women are not screened for HIV during pregnancy. 7,17 Insufficient resources, stigma, the attitudes and skills of health workers, and HIV testing strategy are considered to be the key reasons for low HIV testing during pregnancy in sub-Saharan African countries, particularly in eastern Africa. 20 So this study aimed to assess the prevalence of HIV testing and associated factor among pregnant women in eastern Africa. Methods Data Sources A secondary data analysis using the pooled data from the most recent Demographic and Health Surveys (DHS) of the 11 East African countries was done. The DHS used a stratified two-stage sampling technique to select the study participants. We used the women’s datasets (individual record file) for this analysis and we included only women who gave birth in the past one year before each survey. Adira Foundation Rises From Life-altering Accident to Help in Chronic Care

4.9 (15) Greg Smiley’s world changed abruptly in 2013. He was racing down a mountain road on an outback cycling trip in South Africa, when he hit an obstruction in the road and fell face-first onto the pavement, still clipped to his bike. The impact did considerable damage, including a potentially disfiguring injury from the bridge of his nose down to his chin. That started a multiyear and multifaceted journey of recovery for Smiley, during which the seed for a new nonprofit was planted. This idea ultimately culminated in the Adira Foundation, founded in 2019 and focused on finding commonalities to solve complex issues across five neurodegenerative diseases, including multiple sclerosis.
