Trudeau says China unwilling to admit problem over Uyghurs ANI 24 Jun 2021, 06:55 GMT+10 Ottawa [Canada], June 24 (ANI): After China demanded an investigation into the discovery of the remains of indigenous children in Canada, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has lashed out at Beijing, stressing that there was a difference between the matter and the communist country s systemic abuse against ethnic minorities including Uyghurs. According to Canadian state broadcaster CTV News, Trudeau on Tuesday said that Canada knows its relationship with indigenous people is broken but it has a Truth and Reconciliation Commission and is working to try and address the issues. On the other hand, China is not even willing to admit that there is a problem over the numerous human rights abuses against Uyghurs.

Indigenous violence must stop, Canada told

GENEVA: A senior Chinese diplomat urged Canada to immediately stop human rights violations against its indigenous people, and called on the United Nations Human Rights Council to keep following the human rights issues in Canada. Jiang Duan, minister of the Chinese mission to the United Nations in Geneva, made the remarks on Tuesday at the ongoing 47th Session of the UN Human Rights Council, saying he was deeply concerned about serious human rights violations in the North American country.Speaking on behalf of a group of countries, Jiang noted that historically, Canada had robbed the indigenous people of their land, killed them and eradicated their culture.

Messenger GENEVA, June 23: Kuwait expressed on Tuesday before the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC), its concern of the spreading phenomenon of Islamophobia, hate speech, and discrimination. This came during a speech given by Kuwait’s Permanent Envoy to the United Nations and international organizations in Geneva Ambassador Jamal Al-Ghunaim, before the UNHRC 47th session held between June 21 and July 13 in Geneva, Switzerland. The session is held via video-conference, as part of an interactive dialogue with United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Michelle Bachelet. Islamophobia is undermining peaceful societies, and requires the international community’s firm measures to counter it, in order to spread peace and tranquillity worldwide, he said. He also called for protecting the individuals from the acts of violence, discrimination and hatred crimes.
