By a vote of 24 states in favour, 9 against, with 14 abstentions, the 47-member forum adopted a resolution brought by the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the Palestinian delegation to the United Nations.

In a statement following the back-to-back votes in Geneva on Wednesday and Thursday, Lauder declared that, “Some UN member-states seem to believe that by exculpating Hamas and distorting the facts, they will gain cheap political points against Israel. The real losers, of course, are the Palestinians in Gaza, cynically held hostage by a terrorist organization that purports to speak in their name. Once again, truth has fallen victim to a shameless charade.”

Foreign Minister urges UNHRC to create commission of inquiry into Israeli war crimes RAMALLAH, Thursday, May 27, 2021 (WAFA) – Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Minister Riad al-Malki urged the United Nations Human Rights Council to create a commission of inquiry into Israeli war crimes against the Palestinian people. Speaking during the special session of the 47-member council, al-Malki urged the council to establish an international commission of inquiry to investigate Israeli violations against Palestinians, examine their root causes and submit recommendations on ending Israel’s impunity and ensuring holding it to account. He stressed that justice could not be brought without redress to the Palestinian victims of Israeli crimes and holding Israeli war criminal accountable, while reiterating that peace could not be attained without ending the occupation.
