Of these, 6.1 million people were targeted with in-kind food assistance, around 1.7 million people with food vouchers and over 1.2 million people with cash assistance. • In the southern areas, 4.25 million beneficiaries are to be biometrically registered. By the end of April, around 1.72 million beneficiaries have been biometrically registered in the areas under the Internationally Recognized Government of Yemen (IRG). In November 2020, WFP launched biometric registration and the provision of cash through GFA in the areas under the Sana’a-based authorities. The recent political and security events have had no impact on the humanitarian landscape so far. WFP continues to operate and remains agile to tailor activities as the situation evolves.

Republic of Korea helps keep humanitarian flights in the skies Format SEOUL/ROME – The United Nations World Food Programme has today welcomed a US$1.25 million funding allocation from the Republic of Korea that will help keep humanitarian flights running in four countries as humanitarian needs continue to worsen. The latest allocation, is part of a US$5 million multi-year contribution, which runs from 2020 to 2022, will help the WFP-managed United Nations Humanitarian Air Service (UNHAS) maintain crucial air services for the humanitarian communities in Cameroon, Chad, Nigeria and Sudan. “We are very grateful to the Republic of Korea for the contribution,” says Philippe Martou, WFP’s Chief of Aviation. “When disaster strikes, the humanitarian community’s ability to mount an immediate and effective response is often the difference between life and death. Availability of an efficient air service goes a long way in enabling the response.”
